While not as famous as the Telegraph Hill flock, here is a glimpse of a few of the parrots (cherry headed conures, to be specific) that live in our neighborhood...
The different neighborhood flocks are the descendants of pet birds that escaped (or were released by exasperated pet owners - see the link below) into the urban wild many years ago.
Most afternoons you can hear their ear piercing squawking in the distance way before you spot their lime green bodies overhead.
A few weeks ago they decided to swoop down into our neighbor's eugenia trees to feast on the ripe, red berries they probably spied in an earlier fly-over.
These photos were taken leaning a little too far out of our third story bedroom window, otherwise I might have been more concerned with picture quality.....
